The Rochester Opera House, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is seeking additional volunteer ushers to help with seating patrons and selling concessions during upcoming shows.
Volunteer ushers are critical to the success of every show at the Opera House. Ushers assist patrons with seating, selling concessions, distributing programs, and providing assistance to patrons during performances. All ushers must be able to work throughout the venue comfortably. This includes climbing stairs.
“We have a dedicated group of ushers who generously give their time and energy to our patrons, enabling them to have an enjoyable theatre experience. We look forward to welcoming new volunteers to the team!” – Bonnie Mulcahy, House Manager.
Ushers not only see the shows for free, they also have the opportunity to earn points toward free tickets for use at future shows and events. Most importantly, ushers are contributing to the economic health of the theater and the future of Rochester’s historic downtown.
“It’s a great way to get involved in the community… As a non-profit, we rely on the valuable assistance of our volunteers, who generously give their time and act as ambassadors of the venue. Our volunteers are a treasured component of the ROH team and are vital to our success.” – Anthony Ejarque, Executive Director.
There will be a free usher training and theater tour held on Wednesday, March 11th from 6-7pm at the Rochester Opera House. Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to attend. Contact [email protected] if you are interested in attending. There are volunteer sign-up forms available in the Box Office if you are unable to attend the training.
The Rochester Opera House is located above City Hall at 31 Wakefield Street, in downtown Rochester, New Hampshire. The Box Office is open M/W/F from 10-5pm. Visit www.rochesteroperahouse.com for more information.
