The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, is Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10-2PM, at local drop off locations, to address a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Rochester Police Department is a local Take Back location and will be accepting all prescription medications, especially narcotics, and this year e-cigarettes and vape cartridges (except those with a battery pack). In 2018 Strafford County Drug Take back Days returned 36 boxes for our region weighing over 877lbs, and as of April 2019’s Drug Take Back Day, our county already turned in 1,067lbs!
Please make a difference in our community in decreasing access to prescriptions and medications that can be misused.
The Rochester Police Department at 23 Wakefield Street will serve as a drop off location from 10am – 2pm.
