According to an article recently published by Modern Tire Dealer magazine, Hervey’s Tire Company Inc. on 22 Union Street in Rochester is the 6th oldest tire dealership in America.
Article author Bob Ulrich quotes the Hervey’s Tire website, “We have been doing business at the same location in Rochester NH since 1912, and as a result have an impressive number of longtime customers who rely on us to maintain their vehicles”.
Hervey’s Tire Company was founded by Charles F. Hervey in 1912; his sons Richard and Albert Hervey took the helm when he passed away in 1923. In 1963, Charles F. Hervey (Richard’s son) purchased it from his mother and Aunt and eventually added an alignment pit and then automotive repair services. The shop is much larger than it looks from street side; with 10 bays and a large warehouse for tires and wheels. The business is currently owned and operated by brothers Steve Hervey and Al Hervey, and is also now home to New Hampshire Wheels, a wheel repair and replacement business that the Hervey brothers acquired in July of last year.
