Held each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a nationwide campaign designed to strengthen the relationship between police and fire officials and residents in order to foster partnerships and improve safety in neighborhoods.

Rochester’s National Night Out event is family-friendly and free to attend.

First responders from the Rochester Police and Fire Departments will be present and both departments will bring a variety of vehicles for the public to see and tour.

Representatives from Rochester Recreation, Rochester Schools, Rochester Main Street and the Rochester Child Care Center will also be in attendance.

The event will also feature a variety of local food options, as well as games, live music, a dunk tank and farm animals. Following the event, an after hours movie will be shown at the Common courtesy of Guyer Travel.

“National Night Out is a unique opportunity for the community and members of the department to connect with one another, and I encourage everyone to plan on attending for an evening of fun and activities,” Chief Toussaint said. “We’re all looking forward to renewing this annual tradition.”
