Rochester Fire Department Secretary Named City’s Employee of the Month

2 min read

Fire Chief Mark Klose is pleased to announce that Rochester Fire Department Secretary Jessica Gray has been named the city’s employee of the month for December.

“Jessica has taken on a variety of roles since joining us, and has made a lot of important contributions on a daily basis that make the Rochester Fire Department better,” Chief Klose said. “I’m glad to see her earn this well-deserved honor, and I have no doubt she’ll continue to make a lasting impact on the Rochester Fire Department.”

Since joining the department full time in February, Gray has established herself as an invaluable part of the organization. Gray, out of a determination to make the event a success, took on the responsibility of promoting the department’s recent Fire Safety Festival. Gray has taken the initiative to learn the department’s internal software, which it relies on for scheduling and dispatch operations.

She also did significant work to support fundraising efforts for Firefighter Tyler Thurber — a lifelong friend of hers — as he battles cancer, including helping to ensure the success of the department’s pancake breakfast to benefit him.
