ROCHESTER — When it opened its doors less than a year ago, the Artisans’ Gallery helped to fill a previously untapped niche in downtown Rochester.

The store stands out as the only one in the heart of the city to specialize in local, handmade, one-of-a-kind items from dozens of local artists and craft makers. It currently counts a broad range of items — pottery, sculptures, jewelry, woodworking, blown glass, fabrics and more — among its collection.

Many of the gallery’s featured artists are League of New Hampshire Craftsmen juried members, establishing them as some of the very best in their craft.

“I want to make a positive difference to our downtown and our community,” said gallery owner Sherry Beaudoin, who has made Rochester her home since 1990. “The Artisans Gallery provides a critical outlet for artists and makers in our area to make their work accessible to the community and allow customers to find unique items for their homes.”

Beaudoin is also coordinating Arts Around Town, which will kick off this summer. The three month event will feature the works of over a dozen New England artisans showing their work at various downtown locations. In June, July and August, residents will be able to qualify for prizes if they visit 16 participating businesses. Click here for more information and a map of Arts Around Town locations.

Printed maps will be available soon at each of the 16 locations. Artists interested in participating in the August showcase should reach out to Beaudoin directly here.

The gallery is open Thursday to Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
